Needs Statement
The 2012 Breast Cancer Symposium seeks to provide an opportunity for members of the oncology community to discuss major developments in breast cancer treatment and research in a smaller forum. It is designed to narrow the gap between the care patients with breast cancer receive and the care indicated by current evidence by providing a forum of review and discussion for oncologists.
Target Audience
This Symposium is designed for physicians and researchers interested in the prevention, screening, evaluation, and management of patients with breast cancer, including radiologists; medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists; pathologists; and translational-oriented laboratory scientists.
This Symposium may also be of benefit to nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other health care professionals involved in clinical care and research in this area.
Learning Objectives
Upon participation in this activity, attendees will be able to
- Examine advances in clinical and translational breast cancer research
- Evaluate the role of new diagnostic techniques and therapeutic strategies as applied to the care and management of patients with breast cancer
- Implement new practices or revise existing practices based on best-available evidence as presented at the Symposium
